SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. -- Eight trailers were stolen from Sunrise RV Trailer and Sales in Shepherdsville Tuesday night and police say it was an all night ordeal.
Most thieves like to get in and get out so it is rare thieves have the audacity to keep returning to the scene of their crime to steal more. Yet that’s exactly what pulled off Tuesday night .
As soon as the folks at the Sunrise RV Trailer and Sales opened Wednesday morning they knew something was missing. Four flatbed utility trailers, two aluminum motorcycle trailers and two cargo trailers were all gone.
The bold thieves cut a hole in a chain link and barbed wire fence, pushed one trailer out of the way and then drove onto the lot random times removing one trailer after another.
Police say security cameras at an adjoining trucking company captured shots of thieves on tape. Authorities are hoping to enhance the quality and are convinced this was no random job.
Police also said Kentucky law gives the thieves an advantage because trailers in the state don't need to have VIN numbers registered or license plates displayed -- making it tough for law enforcement officers to identify potentially stolen vehicles.
The RV company is already planning to install surveillance cameras and additional security.
