BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The third annual Binghamton Camper & RV Show comes to the Binghamton University Events Center today through Sunday, and the sponsor hopes the big drop-off in gas prices during the past year will boost interest and participation in family camping.
"We just concluded our 37th annual Augusta (Maine) Camper & RV Show and for the first time this year one of our events is up in gate attendance (8.7 percent)," Robert J. Cole, president of America's Best Shows, wrote in an e-mail this week.
The show runs from noon to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Parking is free for visitors. The show will feature motor homes and a range of campers, from fifth wheels to tent trailers.
Exhibitors at the Binghamton show include; Herman's RV and Trailers, C. Neer RV, Moore's RV, Travel Rite RV, Oliver's Campers, and Hillcrest RV. Campgrounds also will be represented at the show. In addition, Route 96 Power & Paddle Outdoor Products in Candor will display kayaks, canoes, sailboats and supplies and will give away a kayak.
The show also will offer information on Good Sam campground activities and provide free DVDs from Go RVing.
Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for ages 6-14 and free for under age 6. On Sunday, children through age 14 get in free. A number of promotional discounts are being offered, including $1 off with the show ad in Thursday's Good Times, a discount coupon on www.americasbestshows.com, and 2-for-1 admission for adults from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
