(Jan. 5, 2009) -- "It took him about 10 minutes and he dumped his entire holding tank in the bay and then left," said Mike Barkis. He says the RV left behind an estimated 55 gallons of human waste. Barkis says the driver did it not once, but twice.

(Jan. 2, 2009) -- The six-session course, beginning on January 24, 2009, will be held using Workamper.com’s webinar technology. Participants will both see and hear the presentation using their computer screen to see the instructor and visuals and their telephone to listen and speak. Classes will be recorded so participants can listen and watch at their convenience if they miss a live session.

(Dec. 31, 2008) -- When the Good Sam Club started a discussion about awarding an RVer of the year each year, beginning with 2008, no one had to think too hard to decide where that honor should go. It went to Richard Daniels, a Georgia man whose travels introduced him to a dog and whose heart was so big he decided to help homeless animals in addition to giving that stray a good home.

(Dec. 30, 2008) -- The 2009 SuperShow will break the record for both manufacturer's space and supplier's booth space. "We will have more suppliers' booths than ever before and a record amount of manufacturer space," said Marketing Director David Kelly. "With the addition of new entertainment and more seminars, we're anticipating record crowds this year. We're also renewing the two-day pass so the public will have two full days to see everything at the SuperShow at no additional cost."

(Dec. 24, 2008) -- With the industry reeling, Pat Riha said his 2009 Mid-America boat and RV shows will be merged and run over two consecutive weekends, Feb. 12-15 and 19-22. The good news, he added, is that consumers will be able to visit both shows the same day on the same floor — for the price of one.

(Dec. 22, 2008) -- American Guardian said the Schenmeyers were overcharged not just for the labor, but for the refurbished Aqua Hot as well. John Wendt, the claims director for the company, said Bob Schenmeyer was at fault because he hadn't properly winterized and maintained the Aqua Hot. But, with little further comment from American Guardian, the company mailed the Schenmeyers a check for an additional $3,400. That means the couple has now received $5,800, instead of the $7,500 they were expecting. That's good enough for them.

(Dec. 20, 2008) -- A reception for current and former Boy Scouts will be held April 19. Scouts and Boy Scouts of America (BSA) alumni as well as their families are invited to attend and are encouraged to bring old memorabilia for display and discussion. Also, Rainbow Ryders will offer hot air balloon rides from Balloon Fiesta Park during the event with special pricing extended to Rally 2009 guests.

(Dec. 15, 2008) -- An Australian family stranded after their RV was stolen in early-September is on their way again. The family of three was allowed to live in a Carriage fifth wheel free of charge at the company's onsite campground after their own RV was stolen from a Forest River facility. The insurance settlement was processed last week, the family purchased a new RV and has left the area expressing thanks to the Carriage staff for their hospitality.

(Nov. 10, 2008) -- Thor Industries announced today that it is re-launching Thor Credit to provide retail fmancing for recreation vehicle customers of Thor dealers. Thor Credit will finance new Thor RV products and used products of its dealers. The new business will be led by former Thor Credit employees Ed Arienti, Margaret Gandolfo, and Nancy Hartmann, utilizing their decades of industry retail finance expertise.

(Oct. 13, 2008) -- The 25th annual Rocky Mountain Ramble officially begins Thursday. It's organized by the Rocky Mountain Motor Coach Association, a local division of the Family Motor Coach Association. Soaring gas prices haven't put much of a damper on the event's turnout. Last year, 509 RV enthusiasts trundled to Farmington; 475 are expected to make the trip this week.

(Aug. 18, 2008) -- RV Industry News has learned that extended warranty provider Heritage Warranty Services may be out of business. The toll-free numbers given to RV dealers (800-753-5236) are being answered by a company that tells callers they are a "third party" and have nothing to do with the administration of the contracts. The company refuses to provide information about where the company is headquartered or to provide contact information for someone authorized to speak or act on behalf of Heritage Warranty Services.

(Aug. 4, 2008) -- In their 8,341-mile trip across the country and down to the tip of Mexico, Dick Harris and Betty Comer Hill logged a lot of numbers during their 80-day trip. In fact, the couple has logged five trips together in Harris' 40-foot RV. The longest was last year's 11,400-mile trip to Alaska.
