(Jan. 5, 2009) -- Assembly Bill 2436, authored by Rep. Bill Emmerson (R-Redlands), defines a written dealer agreement as a recreational vehicle franchise between two or more persons that contains both: 1) a commercial relationship of definite duration or continuing indefinite duration; and 2) provides the franchisee the right to offer for sale or lease, or to sell or lease at retail, new recreational vehicles, as defined, that are manufactured by the franchisor, or provides the right to perform authorized warranty repairs and service, or the right to perform any combination of these activities.

(Jan. 2, 2009) -- Jan. 13 and 14, Brasher’s Northwest Auto Auction will hold its second two-day specialty event. More than 550 specialty units will roll across the auction’s live auction block. In December, more than 700 agents were in attendance during the two day sale and Brasher's said it anticipates even more dealerships to be in attendance in January.

(Dec. 30, 2008) -- A total of 6,000 new units were shipped to dealers in November compared to 21,500 for the same month last year. For the year, 231,400 units were shipped in the first 11 months, compared to 331,000 in 2007 -- a 30.1 percent decline. A total of 800 motorhomes were shipped last month.

(Dec. 30, 2008) -- U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt ruled a batch of lawsuits on behalf of hundreds of plaintiffs against the federal government and several trailer manufacturers can't be handled as a class action because each person's claim is unique and must be examined individually.

(Dec. 29, 2008) -- Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. has been notified by the NYSE Regulation, Inc. that it is not in compliance with the New York Stock Exchange continued listing standard that requires a listed common stock to maintain a minimum average market capitalization of not less than $25 million over a consecutive 30-trading-day period. Accordingly, the NYSE will suspend trading of the company's common stock effective with the NYSE's opening on Jan. 5, and the company is making the necessary arrangements to ensure that its common stock continues to trade through normal brokerage channels on one of the regular over-the-counter markets.

(Dec. 26, 2008) -- Bill Wyrick is hoping to take a chance in about six months. With business loans being difficult to get and an economy sinking deeper into recession, Wyrick is hoping to restart his manufacturing company, Los Baños RV Center. Wyrick said until the economy turns around this time, he believes his business can survive by producing travel trailers.

(Dec. 23, 2008) -- Prescott Group Capital Management increased its stake in Monaco to 4.1 million shares on Dec. 16, when the company’s stock was trading at 41 cents per share. As recently as September, Prescott owned 1.7 million shares. With 14 percent of Monaco's common stock under its control, Prescott is now the single largest holder of the company's shares.

(Dec. 22, 2008) -- Amadas Coach announced this week that it has taken over the intellectual property and manufacturing rights of Featherlite Coaches Inc., based in Sanford, Fla. Amadas will adopt the Featherlite brand for all of its locally made motorhomes and executive coaches, said Shannon Adams, Amadas' marketing manager.
